Step Four: it's the small things

April 29, 2015

As we wait for our old house to sell (crossing fingers crossing fingers crossing fingers), we are keeping busy and making an impact with little changes, updates and continued cleaning.

So call me crazy, but I really had to get rid of the boob lights that were marching down the hallway.  In effort to use texture and natural materials, we installed these natural grass cloth shade fixtures by Philips Consumer Luminaire.

And with Spring finally arriving, we’ve spent much time in the yard trimming long-neglected trees, grasses and vines.  It is so exciting to discover hidden plantings and see what emerges from winter dormancy.  Though, after trimming the 6′ tall decorative grasses on the side of the house, I discovered an unsightly plethora of wires and cables and phone boxes accumulated over 50 years. How do we know which wires we can cut?!

And lastly, but certainly not least, we discovered Eva’s hidden talent for scrubbing tile floors.  We were amazed at what she was able to scrub clean and helped make the sunroom look and smell so much better.  Unfortunately for her, she’s earned the task of scrubbing tile in the bathroom, kitchen and laundry room! We used Biokleen’s Bac-Out all natural stain and odor remover on the floors.  It was great to work with and did an excellent job.
